As the wife if a small business owner and artist, we always try to shop locally & buy American made products whenever possible. We want to give back to the people that support us and be part of the movement that hopefully will help create jobs for more Americans. Last year, all of our Christmas gifts were American made, many were produced by local artisans. We plan to continue this tradition.
ReplyDeletei love when i can buy american made...the quality is much better and i love supporting american businesses that keep things in america!

ReplyDeletebecause we are keeping american workers employed!
ReplyDeleteI buy American made for two reasons.....one is to keep American's employed....the other because I do NOT want to support any country where the labor is being done by children or those who are being persecuted for their moral or religious beliefs!!!
ReplyDeleteI buy American because I AM American....and want to stay that way.... ;o)) Robin
ReplyDeleteI try to buy not only American, but local as well. So many of our economic issues stem from giving away our jobs, not supporting our local farmers and shop keepers. I love this country and feel very blessed to call it my home. I want the future to remain bright for our children and grandchildren. I want them to be able to buy a home and sit on their front porch and get to know the neighbors...to share produce from their garden...to get a quality education...to feel safe.
ReplyDeleteI think that blogs, and etsy and pinterest are showing us what we're capable of and what really matters.
Thank you for offering this give away and for making us think!!!
Love your magazine and devour each issue!!!
Blessings!
Such and adorable handbag!
ReplyDeleteAs an American Artist and small business owner, I know first hand the importance of buying "made in America"...it is what puts food on our table!
ReplyDeleteThanks for such a great magazine and doing all you can to promote and support our efforts! ~Laurie
I think that America is the greatest county there is so anything that I can do to support anything made in America is great. We need more Made in America because of the great unemployment we have.

Oh my...buying American made has become such a struggle...do you spend $80 on that "American made, organic, sustainable t" or a grocery cart full of organic, sustainably harvested food and buy a $20 t at your local big box store?? Living in rural America, the choices for American made items in a local shop are slim to none. If you need a stainless steel trash can or one hundred pairs of socks then you are in luck because they are readily available. When I see the American flag and the statement MADE IN THE USA I get so excited...only to question, what shall I do with another galvanized bucket or watering trough! I love to buy American. I grew up the daughter of a local Union president and we drove only American made vehicles and swore off any brand name that employed child labor. I still have those values, but it is hard when you are a Chevy girl to know that the Toyota parked beside my truck is more American made than the American bowtie that Bob Seger says is like a rock!
ReplyDeleteI have a small shop and try my best to offer American made products, but until the price point is affordable to the average shopper, it is going to be difficult to really make a change. I will sacrifice in other areas, but not everyone can afford to do the same. I am so proud to be an American and would LOVE to see the day that our manufacturing facilities are back up and running with good paying jobs and good quality products.
Thanks for promoting this beautiful handbag and the designer. Also, thank you for promoting America and all we have to offer...
I am an American first and foremost. Part of the problem is that we don't look at ourselves as a collective whole, rather just as individuals. Individuals who want fast and cheap. Not all, of course, but enough that we have inadvertently supported other countries in our quest for "less is best". It's perfectly alright to aid other countries, to share ideas, technology and goods. But to what extent? When given the choice I will ALWAYS support my fellow Americans and American Made. Without a solid foundation of economic growth within our own borders the rest of the world will suffer as well. We need our factories back. We need to breathe life back into our towns that once thrived and flourished. We need to create a movement of support for all the artist, shop owners, textile workers and everyone who works hard to make this country, not what it is, but what it could be. There is always room to make it a better place to live and it begins with all of us contributing what we can to each other...even if it is just one dollar at a time. I buy American because I owe it to all of you (and me)!
ReplyDeleteI buy American made because I am so thankful to be an American. This is one way to support our own artisans, be they local or in another area in the USA. The handbag is gorgeous. I will post this giveaway on my sidebar.
ReplyDeleteI'm proud of being able to call myself American- and I want to be able to remain proud of that. By supporting each other- our neighbors, our communities, our country - I believe we can restore some of the mindset and ideals our forefathers wished us to have. Times change, societies change, and countries change over the years. Goodness knows often times these changes are for the better, however losing American industry, innovation, and jobs will never, could never, be better for our country. I buy American made because it reminds me that our hard work, our creativeness, our "up by our own boot-straps", has not been lost yet- and it makes me proud of being able to call myself American.
ReplyDeleteI love to buy American and I buy locally every time I can. I am proud of where I come from and the people who share this country with me! Buying local/American supports those folks!
ReplyDeleteI will choose the made in America product everytime I can. Most times I will do without something if I can't find it Made in America! As a PROUD AMERICAN I support my country in
ReplyDeleteevery way I can. I have a huge American Flag flying over our farm! It will fly forever, have backup flags!!!Our beef we raise stays in America and feeds America!! GOD bless all American farmers too!!!
I try to buy American made and shop locally whenever I can to help out the small businesses in my hometown so it can thrive!
ReplyDeleteI prefer to buy American because its the right thing to do and the quality is better. You don't have to worry that something is stuffed with something harmful!
ReplyDeleteI try to buy American whenever possible to help support other American workers and keep my money out of sweat shops.
ReplyDeleteI own a small retail business and like many I am struggling but still find it exhilirating to do. I buy locally from shops in my hometown and am a big fan of Michigan's Eastern Market. My goal is to love what I do and to live with an effort to help and support others and buying American does that.
ReplyDeleteI buy American Made because my father was a small business man for over 30 years & he taught me the value of doing business with "real" people and not corporations. In the same way when people did business with my father it funded my families life and I could see an almost instant direct correlation, I wan to be able to do that for others. I can do it by buying local and hand made.
ReplyDeleteI do my best to buy American. I also do my best to buy as local (or close to local) as I can. I want to keep my money in my local economy. Plus as a veteran it makes me proud to buy American.
ReplyDeleteI always try to buy American and local when I can. Everything seems to last longer and it's helping neighbors keeps jobs!
ReplyDeletePeople in America need jobs and this is one small way we can give back. I love supporting local businesses.
ReplyDeleteBuying American made just makes me feel good, it is the right thing to do.
ReplyDeleteAmerican made goods support fellow American workers, allow the goods to be more sustainable, and show off our pride we have for this great nation, and the talented people who call it home!
ReplyDeleteI try my best to buy American. It's so important to keep our home-grown artists and companies in business. It feels good knowing that your purchase helps keep people employed here. Plus, we make the BEST stuff!!
ReplyDeleteWhenever possible I buy American; local as well --with pride and trust and a smile.

It makes economical sense! Want to strengthen the economy.....buy what's at home first. It's Economics 101.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what has been said in all of the above posts...it is the right thing to do.
ReplyDeleteI buy local as much as I can to support my local small businesses!
ReplyDeleteI can't always buy American made but I do if I can. I really try to buy locally as well. I like to make and sell rag rugs, jelly etc and I know how much I appreciate it when people buy the items I create so I know what it means to local businesses.
ReplyDeleteI buy American because I want to support American owned business- keep our jobs at home!
ReplyDeleteI always shop local! I think the support of the "mom and pop" is the root of how we function as a society and how we can do something small to boost our economy as a whole. I buy large items such as cars and electronics based on quality not where they are made. as well as based on the company's overall environmental impact and ethics standards. I will not buy from a company with poor environmental practices!
ReplyDeleteAmerican made equals quality plus jobs for those close to home.
ReplyDeleteI buy American made to keep family, friends, & neighbors employed. Then I stay employed by them buying my services as a seamstress. It's all good!
ReplyDeleteI buy everything I can from our local business, shops, and restaurants. It's important to me to support my city and the business owners who are my neighbors. Besides, local fruit and vegetables taste so wonderful and shopping local has allowed me to make so many new friends. I'm not just a customer. These people are my friends. I wouldn't do it any other way.
ReplyDeleteI'm with the majority here... I buy local whenever I can because of the quality and to support area businesses.
ReplyDeleteAmerica...the name means quality!
ReplyDeleteFor several years now I have been purchasing American made products. It started when I wanted to update my kitchen. After the shock of discovering how many iconic brands no longer manufacture in the USA, I decided that if they can no longer invest in America, I can no longer invest my dollars in them. It is not always easy and sometimes not even possible but it makes me happy to know I am investing in my neighbors, children, and grandchildren. More than that, we should reopen trade schools and start training our kids in high school for twenty first century technical jobs. Not everyone is meant for a four year degree, especially financially.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it can be very challenging to find american made products, but I always try to do so first......I love seeing this series on this and will be taking notes of american clothing manufacturers. One of my goals is to find american made towels....so hard to find these. Thank you for the opportunity to wind this darling bag!
